Present Simple vs. Present Continuous – What’s the Difference?

Confused about when to use “I go” and when to say “I’m going”?

Let’s break it down clearly — with real-life examples!

مش عارف تقول I go ولا I’m going؟
تعالى نفهم الفرق بطريقة سهلة وسريعة 💡

📘 1. Present Simple = for facts, habits, and routines

نستخدمه لما نتكلم عن الحقيقة، العادات، أو الروتين.

Examples:

  • I go to work at 8 AM.

  • She drinks tea every morning.

  • The sun rises in the east.

أمثلة:

  • I go to work at 8 AM. = بروح الشغل الساعة ٨

  • She drinks tea every morning. = هي بتشرب شاي كل يوم الصبح

  • The sun rises in the east. = الشمس بتطلع من الشرق

📗 2. Present Continuous = for actions happening now or around now

نستخدمه لما نتكلم عن حاجة بتحصل دلوقتي أو في الوقت ده.

Examples:

  • I’m going to work now.

  • She’s drinking tea right now.

  • They’re playing football at the moment.

أمثلة:

  • I’m going to work now. = أنا رايح الشغل دلوقتي

  • She’s drinking tea right now. = هي بتشرب شاي حاليًا

  • They’re playing football now. = هما بيلعبوا كورة دلوقتي

⚠️ Compare These Sentences:

  • He reads a book. ✅ (He does this often – habit)

  • He’s reading a book. ✅ (He’s doing it right now)

الفرق:
He reads = بيقرا دايمًا
He’s reading = بيقرا دلوقتي

📝 How to Form the Tenses:

TenseFormulaExample
Present SimpleSubject + base verbI eat / He eats
Present ContinuousSubject + am/is/are + verb+ingI am eating / She is eating

🎯 Tips to Remember:

  • Use Present Simple for: every day, always, usually, often

  • Use Present Continuous for: now, at the moment, currently, today

كلمات مفتاحية تساعدك:

  • Present Simple: always, every day

  • Present Continuous: now, at the moment
